Ernesto, jeune anthropologue \u00e0 la Fondation m\u00e9dico-l\u00e9gale, travaille \u00e0 l\u2019identification des disparus de la guerre civile, et oeuvre pour rendre une dignit\u00e9 aux morts en leur offrant une s\u00e9pulture, et permettre le processus de deuil indispensable de toute une nation. Lui-m\u00eame est porteur d\u2019une qu\u00eate, celle de son p\u00e8re qu\u2019il n\u2019a pas connu, gu\u00e9rillero disparu pendant le conflit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">De la dictature militaire instaur\u00e9e \u00e0 la fin des ann\u00e9es 70 au Guatemala est n\u00e9e une guerre civile qui n\u2019a pris fin qu\u2019une vingtaine d\u2019ann\u00e9es plus tard, jonchant derri\u00e8re elle plus de 200.000 cadavres, et ensevelissant la m\u00e9moire de 40.000 disparus. Avec <i>Nuestras Madres<\/i>, s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9 en Comp\u00e9tition dans le cadre de la Semaine de la Critique \u00e0 l\u2019occasion du 72e Festival de Cannes, Cesar Diaz fait oeuvre de m\u00e9moire et de r\u00e9silience. Son film surgit comme un cri dans le silence historique qui entoure ce massacre m\u00e9connu, dont les victimes furent essentiellement des Indiens, et dresse le portrait d\u00e9chirant d\u2019une m\u00e8re et son fils.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-219182\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cinevox.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/NUESTRAS-MADRES_1.9.1-800x338.jpg\" alt=\"Nuestras-Madres-Cesar-Diaz\" width=\"618\" height=\"261\" srcset=\"https:\/\/w-l-c.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/NUESTRAS-MADRES_1.9.1-800x338.jpg 800w, https:\/\/w-l-c.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/NUESTRAS-MADRES_1.9.1-480x203.jpg 480w, https:\/\/w-l-c.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/NUESTRAS-MADRES_1.9.1-768x324.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 618px) 100vw, 618px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Ernesto oeuvre \u00e0 r\u00e9parer non pas les vivants, mais le souvenir des morts, en les situant et les identifiant. Si son engagement, emprunt de solidarit\u00e9, est fort du sens de la communaut\u00e9, il est n\u00e9anmoins amen\u00e9 \u00e0 le mettre au service d\u2019une cause qui lui est personnelle. Alors que sa m\u00e8re, entour\u00e9e de nombreuses autres femmes, s\u2019appr\u00eate \u00e0 t\u00e9moigner lors d\u2019un proc\u00e8s crucial pour la reconnaissance des violences et des massacres perp\u00e9tr\u00e9s par l\u2019arm\u00e9e et le pouvoir, un indice le m\u00e8ne sur la tombe suppos\u00e9e de son p\u00e8re. Il y rencontre des femmes, dignes et fortes, qui font \u00e9cho \u00e0 celle qu\u2019il conna\u00eet d\u00e9j\u00e0\u2026 Boulevers\u00e9 par cette d\u00e9couverte, il s\u2019appr\u00eate \u00e0 r\u00e9\u00e9crire une page fondatrice de son histoire personnelle. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Le film d\u00e9bute (et finit) par un plan z\u00e9nithal sur une table recouverte d\u2019ossements, o\u00f9 un squelette se recompose peu \u00e0 peu sous les mains expertes d\u2019Ernesto, tel un puzzle dont il faudrait assembler les pi\u00e8ces pour reconstituer, via le corps des morts, le pass\u00e9 du pays et de ses survivants.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-219880\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cinevox.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/nuestrasmadres1342-800x336.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"618\" height=\"260\" srcset=\"https:\/\/w-l-c.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/nuestrasmadres1342-800x336.jpg 800w, https:\/\/w-l-c.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/nuestrasmadres1342-480x202.jpg 480w, https:\/\/w-l-c.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/nuestrasmadres1342-768x323.jpg 768w, https:\/\/w-l-c.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/nuestrasmadres1342.jpg 1366w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 618px) 100vw, 618px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><i>Nuestras Madres <\/i>est le premier long m\u00e9trage de Cesar Diaz, qui vient du documentaire. Car si cette plong\u00e9e intime au coeur de la violence de la grande Histoire du Guatemala porte un regard interrogateur sur le pays, elle n\u2019en est pas moins travers\u00e9e par un vrai souffle de fiction, port\u00e9 par le destin singulier d\u2019Ernesto et sa m\u00e8re, magnifiquement interpr\u00e9t\u00e9s par Armando Espitia, qui campe un jeune homme plein de questions et de fragilit\u00e9, et Emma Dib, qui porte en elle tout \u00e0 la fois le chagrin d\u2019une nation, et la souffrance d\u2019une femme.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Le film est produit en Belgique, o\u00f9 C\u00e9sar Diaz a \u00e9tudi\u00e9, par G\u00e9raldine Sprimont pour Need Productions. L&rsquo;image a \u00e9t\u00e9 confi\u00e9e \u00e0 la chef op\u00e9ratrice Virginie Surdej (voir notre interview), et le mixage son \u00e0 Manu De Boissieu.
