Le premier long m\u00e9trage de Pieter-Jan De Pue<\/strong>, The Land of the Enlightened<\/em>, \u00e9tait pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 hier\u00a0soir en premi\u00e8re mondiale au Festival du Film de Sundance.<\/p>\n

D\u2019apr\u00e8s les Belges qui sont sur place, cette projection \u00e9tait pr\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9e d\u2019un buzz intense parmi les professionnels du secteur. Ceux-ci n\u2019ont apparemment pas \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9\u00e7us. Les premi\u00e8res critiques parlent d\u2019un \u00ab\u00a0triomphe visuel\u00a0\u00bb. Apr\u00e8s Sundance, le film sera pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 au Festival International du Film de Rotterdam dans une Comp\u00e9tition Tiger remani\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

The Land of the Enlightened<\/em> met en sc\u00e8ne un groupe d\u2019enfants afghans qui s\u2019organisent pour survivre dans un pays ravag\u00e9 par la guerre. Pieter-Jan De Pue<\/strong> a tourn\u00e9 des images en 16mm pendant pr\u00e8s de sept ans dans diverses r\u00e9gions d\u2019Afghanistan pour monter un \u00e9tourdissant voyage cin\u00e9matographique empreint de po\u00e9sie.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Pour moi cette premi\u00e8re projection a \u00e9t\u00e9 comme l\u2019accouchement d\u2019un premier enfant,\u00a0\u00bb a expliqu\u00e9 De Pue. \u00ab\u00a0Sauf que la grossesse a dur\u00e9 sept ans plut\u00f4t que neuf mois (il rit). C\u2019est ma \u2013 premi\u00e8re \u2013 r\u00e9alisation. Et je suis ravi que l\u2019accueil ait \u00e9t\u00e9 aussi positif. Ce film n\u2019aurait pas \u00e9t\u00e9 possible sans l\u2019aide de nombreuses personnes et je suis aussi tr\u00e8s reconnaissant.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Apr\u00e8s s\u2019\u00eatre battus pendant des ann\u00e9es pour surmonter les challenges techniques ainsi que les risques financiers et logistiques, cette premi\u00e8re mondiale \u00e0 Sundance est un moment d\u2019\u00e9motion intense pour chacun de nous,\u00a0\u00bb ajoute Bart Van Langendonck<\/strong> le producteur du film. \u00ab\u00a0Il est clair que The Land of the Enlightened<\/em> fait grande impression ici et que le film aura une importante et longue carri\u00e8re internationale.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n

‘Screen International’ la premi\u00e8re revue professionnelle \u00e0 avoir publi\u00e9 une critique, \u00e9voque \u00ab\u00a0un documentaire hybride, \u00e0 la fois hypnotisant et espi\u00e8gle mais aussi d\u2019une aust\u00e9rit\u00e9 sobre qui m\u00e9lange la fiction et le r\u00e9alisme cru.\u00a0\u00bb ‘The Salt Lake Tribune’ parle quant \u00e0 lui d\u2019un \u00ab\u00a0documentaire puissant\u00a0\u00bb et lui attribue trois \u00e9toiles et demie.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Land of the Enlightened<\/em> sera pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 le 2 f\u00e9vrier en avant-premi\u00e8re europ\u00e9enne au Festival de Rotterdam o\u00f9 il concourra pour le Tiger Award. Aux Pays-Bas, il sera distribu\u00e9 par Periscoop Film.<\/p>\n

En Belgique, c\u2019est Dalton qui distribuera le film le 16 mars apr\u00e8s une avant-premi\u00e8re \u00e9v\u00e9nementielle \u00e0 Bozar le 6 mars (tickets via bozar.be). Les ventes internationales sont assur\u00e9es par UTA pour les \u00c9tats-Unis et Films Boutique pour le reste du monde.<\/p>\n
