De film krijgt er zijn internationale premi\u00e8re binnen de East of the West Competitie.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u00d6zt\u00fcrks debuutfilm schetst het verhaal van de 42-jarige Hakan die de afgelopen jaren doorbracht in een psychiatrisch ziekenhuis. Met de hulp van verpleegster Ayla probeerde de ex-militair er te genezen van zijn posttraumatische stress-stoornis. Wanneer Hakan wordt ontslagen uit het ziekenhuis en opnieuw intrekt in zijn eenzame appartement in Istanbul, probeert hij het contact met zijn ex-vrouw en dochter te herstellen. Maar ook zij dragen de sporen van zijn gewelddadige verleden. De Belgische premi\u00e8re is weggelegd voor het Film Fest Gent in oktober.<\/p>\n<h4>Ten oosten van het westen<\/h4>\n<p>&#8216;Blue Silence&#8217; maakt in Karlovy Vary deel uit van de East of the West sectie, een internationale competitie van eerste en tweede speelfilms van regisseurs uit Centraal- en Oost-Europa, de Balkan, Turkije en de voormalige Sovjet-landen. \u00d6zt\u00fcrk, die in het verleden al zijn visitekaartje afleverde met de documentaire<em> &#8216;Waiting&#8217;<\/em> en de korte films <em>&#8216;Houses with Small Windows&#8217;<\/em> en <em>&#8216;Shadow&#8217;<\/em>, maakt daarbij kans op de Grote Prijs en\/of Speciale Prijs van de Jury van de East of the West Competitie.<\/p>\n<p>De hoofdrollen in &#8216;Blue Silence&#8217; worden vertolkt door <strong>Teoman Kumbarac\u0131ba\u015f\u0131<\/strong>, <strong>Roda Canioglu<\/strong> en <strong>Korkmaz Arslan<\/strong>. De DOP is <strong>Emre Tanyildiz<\/strong>, <strong>David Verdurme<\/strong> stond in voor de montage, terwijl de muziek van de hand is van <strong>Michel Bisceglia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Blue Silence&#8217; is een productie van <strong>Tomas Leyers<\/strong> voor Minds Meet (<em>&#8216;Lucifer&#8217;, &#8216;Violet&#8217;, &#8216;I&#8217;m the same I&#8217;m an other&#8217;<\/em>), in coproductie met Daylight Films (<em>&#8216;Noces&#8217;<\/em>) in Belgi\u00eb en het Turkse Bantof Film. De film kon rekenen op steun van het VAF.
