Op de rode loper brengt regisseur Coulier deze\u00a0topcast mee:\u00a0\u00a0Adel Bencherif (Un Proph\u00e8te),\u00a0Bayo Gbadamosi (Dokter Who),\u00a0Paul Gorostidi (The Time of their Lives),\u00a0Emilie de Preissac (Transit) en\u00a0Aaron Heffernan\u00a0 (Solo: a Star Wars Story). Ook David Martin (muziek Goose, De dag),\u00a0D.O.P. David Williamson en de Belgische acteur Pieter Genard zullen aanwezig zijn.\u00a0Het Belgische productiehuis De wereldvrede, dat Coulier samen met acteur Gilles De Schryver en Wouter Sap runt, is verantwoordelijk voor het Belgische\u00a0luik van de productie. Voor hen is dit hun eerste grote internationale fictiereeks. Eerder maakte De Wereldvrede ook al BEVERGEM en CARGO. Onlangs werden ook de opnames van de CANVAS\u00a0&#8211; reeks ALBATROS be\u00ebindigd. De Wereldvrede werd\u00a0opgericht in 2013.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>War of the Worlds<\/em> situeert zich in een hedendaagse Europa en werd geschreven en gecre\u00eberd door BAFTA winnaar Howard Overman (Misfits, Crazyhead, Merlin) op basis van het tijdloze verhaal van H.G. Wells. Executive Producers zijn Johnny Capps, Julian Murphy en\u00a0Howard Overman van Urban Myth Films, voor het continentale luik werden zij bijgestaan door het Belgische productiehuis De Wereldvrede met Gilles De Schryver als executive producer\u00a0en het Franse Caroline Productions. Gilles Coulier (De Dag, Cargo)\u00a0regisseerde de eerste 4 afleveringen.\u00a0\u00a0De Antwerpse David Williamson verzorgde de fotografie, David Martin (Goose, De Dag) de soundtrack. In Vlaanderen is War of the Worlds meteen na de internationale premi\u00e8re te bekijken op FOX \u00a0(29 okt)\u00a0waarna de serie toegevoegd wordt aan Telenet Play (30 okt).<\/p>\n<p><em>Als astronomen een geluidsfragment vanuit een ander heelal waarnemen, is het bewijs van intelligent buitenaards leven geleverd. De wereld wacht vol spanning op verder contact. Binnen enkele dagen wordt de mensheid bijna volledig van de kaart geveegd door een alles verwoestende aanval; kleine groepjes overlevenden blijven achter in een angstaanjagende verlaten wereld.\u00a0Opgejaagd door aliens stellen ze de brandende vraag &#8211; wie zijn deze buitenaardse wezens en waarom zijn zij vastbesloten om ons uit te roeien?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Emotioneel, cinematisch en in karakter geworteld, brengt <em>War of the Worlds<\/em> een unieke samensmelting van menselijk drama en de beste sciencefiction. Dit is een verhaal van gewone mensen in buitengewone omstandigheden, maar zij zijn meer dan enkel slachtoffers in een brutale oorlog.
