De film zal zijn wereldpremi\u00e8re beleven in de Encounters-competitie.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Encounters is een relatief nieuwe competitie, die in 2020 gelanceerd werd bij het aantreden van de\u00a0nieuwe festivaldirectie\u00a0en de nadruk legt op innovatieve narratieve speelfilms en documentaires. Met de selectie van zijn nieuwe speelfilm zet <strong>Bas Devos<\/strong> een volgende stap in zijn\u00a0traject\u00a0op de Berlinale: zijn vorige speelfilms <em>Hellhole<\/em> (2019, Panorama-sectie) en <em>Violet<\/em> (2014, Generation) gingen eveneens in Berlijn in premi\u00e8re. In de tussentijd regisseerde hij\u00a0<em>Ghost Tropic<\/em>, die in 2019 geselecteerd werd voor de Quinzane des R\u00e9alisateurs in Cannes.<\/p>\n<p>In<em> Here<\/em>\u00a0volgen we een Roemeense bouwvakker die in Brussel woont en op het punt staat terug naar huis te gaan. Voor zijn vertrek kookt hij een grote pot soep met restjes uit zijn koelkast, om uit te delen als afscheidscadeau aan vrienden en familie. Dan ontmoet hij een Belgisch-Chinese doctorandus die mossen bestudeert, wat leidt tot een potentieel liefdesverhaal. De productie is van<strong> Marc Goyens<\/strong> voor <strong>Quetzalcoatl<\/strong>, met de steun van kunstencentrum BUDA, kunstencentrum nona en Proximus. Net als voor <em>Ghost Tropic<\/em> is de originele score voor\u00a0<em>Here<\/em> van <strong>Brecht Ameel<\/strong>.
