Felix van Groeningens <em><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">\u2018The Broken Circle Breakdown\u2019<\/span><\/em> is \u00e9\u00e9n van de negen films op de shortlist voor de Oscar voor Beste Niet-Engelstalige Film. Die lijst maakte de Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (A.M.P.A.S.) zojuist bekend. Op 16 januari zullen vijf van deze negen titels een nominatie in de wacht slepen voor de 86ste Academy Awards.\u00a0 Nu komt die nominatie dus echt wel heel dichtbij.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Het intense bluegrass drama van Felix van Groeningen werd eind september uitgekozen om Belgi\u00eb te vertegenwoordigen in de categorie Beste Niet-Engelstalige Film van de Academy Awards. De film was daarmee een van de 76 kandidaten binnen deze categorie, een recordaantal, die deelnemen aan de race naar de Oscars. \u2018The Broken Circle Breakdown\u2019 wist zich nu echter te plaatsen voor de shortlist en stoot zo als een van de negen uitverkozen films door naar de volgende ronde.<\/p>\n<p>Op 16 januari maakt de Academy alle offici\u00eble nominaties in de verschillende categorie\u00ebn bekend. De vijf genomineerden in de categorie Beste Niet-Engelstalige zullen worden gekozen via geheime stemming door het Foreign Language Film Award Committee. Nieuw dit jaar is daarbij dat de vijf finalisten ook op dvd verspreid zullen worden naar alle actieve leden van de Academy die daardoor automatisch in aanmerking komen om deel te nemen aan de finale stemronde. Tot vorig jaar was het stemmen voorbehouden aan leden die konden aantonen dat ze aanwezig waren op voorstellingen van alle vijf genomineerde films.\u2028\u2028Op zondag 2 maart 2014 worden de Academy Awards uitgereikt in het Dolby Theatre\u00ae in het Hollywood &amp; Highland Center\u00ae. De ceremonie, dit jaar opnieuw in handen van tv-icoon Ellen DeGeneres, wordt ook wereldwijd live uitgezonden in meer dan 225 territoria.\u2028\u2028Felix van Groeningen en Carl Joos schreven het scenario van \u2018The Broken Circle Breakdown\u2019, gebaseerd op het gelijknamige theaterstuk van Johan Heldenbergh en Mieke Dobbels. Ruben Impens stond achter de camera, Nico Leunen nam de montage voor zijn rekening.
