De documentaire werd op het Hot Springs Internationaal Documentairefestival in de VS bekroond als \u2018Beste Internationale Speelfilm\u2019. Daarnaast won de docu ook de \u2018SBS Award voor Beste Internationale Documentaire\u2019 op het Antenna Documentairefestival in Australi\u00eb. \u2018Waiting for August\u2019 gaat donderdag 23 oktober in Belgische premi\u00e8re op het Film Fest Gent in aanwezigheid van de maakster.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Het debuut van Teodora Ana Mihai oogstte al heel wat internationale lof. Zo viel de film in de prijzen op de prestigieuze festivals van Hot Docs en Karlovy Vary en was er een eervolle vermelding op Visions du R\u00e9el. Terwijl hun moeder voor enkele maanden de kost verdient in Itali\u00eb, wordt de tiener gebombardeerd tot gezinshoofd. De verantwoordelijkheid voor haar broers en zussen maken een abrupt einde aan Georgiana\u2019s puberteit.
